
The first day of spring was on Friday, but after all that spring weather we are now back into winter in Chamonix.
There was really deep snow at the Grands Montets top station, if you could see to ski it! It is snowing all day in the Chamonix mountains, with 30-40cm of new snow overnight.
It was a day like this in March a few years ago that inspired me to write the "White Room" chapter in my book "Snow Tales and Powder Trails" - White out visibility, and bottomless deep fluffy snow, skiing straight down the fall line as if inside a cloud.
At mid mountain, the new snow was covering some pretty large moguls, which tripped me up a few times! The Pierre-a-ric piste is still great all the way to the bottom, too, despite the spring temperatures last week, and Les Houches pistes are still good at a similar altitude.
