Beginners Slopes: Slopes for beginner skiers in Courmayeur & Aosta Valley
Beginner skiers and snowboarders can easily access wide gently sloping runs at Courmayeur.
The top of the Entreves cable car is a great starting point for beginners with a magic carpet and gentle slopes.
There are several gentle nursery slopes situated at Plan Checrouit and Maison Vieille - but due to the limited space at Plan Checrouit it can only be used when accompanied by a ski instructor. Those in Pre de Pascal and Dolonne are less accessible, but open to everyone.
Above the cable car in the Plan Checrouit Area beginners head to the flat and wide Chiecco trail and the long and winding Pra Neyron trail. For an extra long run take the Pra Neyron trail to link with the Val Veny trail ending in the Pre de Pascal Area.
Beginners who progress reasonably well will be able to try the long blue run from the Pra Neyron chairlift, and the blue Val Veny run, accessed via Pre de Pascal.
Dolonne Area - under the Courmayeur Cable Car there are a couple of wide (flat) groomed trails suitable for children and beginner skiers and snowboards. The Dolonne beginners’ area with its three good sized moving carpet lifts is a good place for children to learn to ski though it may be limiting for those accompanying them! Facilities here include a good children’s play area, snow tubing and tobogganing alongside a bar which has deckchairs to rent.
Aosta Valley
In the Monterosa area: Champoluc - is fantastic beginners area, ideal for children. Antagnod has a baby snow park especially for kids with a magic carpet to the top of the slope
Pila - has excellent nursery slopes and gentle runs for beginners such as Baby Pila and Baby Gorraz. The resort is not very well known so it tends to be quieter than the others.
Thuile - has several nursery slopes and some easy blues once you have mastered the basics
Cervinia - has good nursery slopes served with carpet lifts for complete beginners, with easily accessible gentle blues to progress too. Gentle blues and reds make this an ideal resort to quickly progress your skiing skills.
Ski schools are available in all the ski resorts - for beginners to advanced skiers who want to improve their skills. Or hire a private instructor for one to one lessons.
