Val Ferret is the name given to the two valleys on each side of the Col Ferret, bordering Italy and Switzerland, and connected only by a mountain footpath through the Col Ferret (2,543m). The Italian Val Ferret starts at the Col Ferret (2,490m) on the Italian border.
Val Ferret is an alpine valley located just north of Courmayeur, at the foot of the Grandes Jorasses (part of the Mont Blanc massif) not far from the Mont Blanc Tunnel, surrounded by high peaks well known to mountain climbers and impressive alpine scenery.
Summer: The valley has beautiful walking/hiking trails, frequented by hikers on the Tour du Mont Blanc & Tour du Saint Bernard. Other summer activities include: trout fishing, 9-hole golf course, spots activites for children, mountain biking.
Winter: A paradise for snow shoeing and cross country skiers with routes (cut for both classic and skating techniques) starting from Planpincieuxand extending the entire valley as far as Lavachey! The area is inaccessible for vehicles - a shuttle will drop you off at the first hamlet, Planpincieux, and from here it's up to you to choose your mode of transport - to walk, snow shoe or cross country .ski. Planpincieux has a variety of good accommodation, plenty of charming restaurants, bars and ski rental shops and ski schools.
