Swatch Freeride World Tour (FWT) 2014 by The North Face debuts in Courmayeur, Italy, 17 Jan 2014. Previously the FWT has held its season opener in the United States, France, Russia, and Canada, and now, for the first time, that honor goes to Italy .
The race is confirmed for Saturday 17 Jan at 10.30am on the Tete d'Arp. The competition is visible from the slopes on top of Plan Checrouit.
The FWT takes place in Courmayeur for the third consecutive year. Courmayeur is a popular Italian destination for riders due to the people's hospitality, the excellent snow and incredible terrain.
The FWT 2014 has 6 main event locations. Of the six events of the 2014 FWT, Courmayeur Mont Blanc is the only event this year to feature just men ski and snowboard. All other locations feature both men & women.
Reine Barkered (SWE), world champion in 2012, said: “What better place to start the season and meet up with all the FWT riders after a long summer, than the sunny side of Mont Blanc? I love being in Courmayeur – it has great skiing and a great venue!”
